Once again during the RodFest we will be holding a Cacklefest! What is a Cacklefest? Let’s reminisce a little about the 2013 Cacklefest in order to answer that question: Vintage rails gathered in the lot across the street from Left Hand Brewery about to burn up a couple hundred bucks’ worth of nitro methane for a crowd of car lovers. It’s a “cacklefest,” as these loud reunions of old dragsters are called. If you haven’t been to one it sort of goes like this: drivers put on gas masks; cool, big engines are started; they make ungodly, antisocial noise while blowing out flame puffs and tear-gas clouds of partially burned nitro methane, and then the cars go . . . nowhere. Everybody seems happy with that and at the 2013 ColoRODans’ Cacklefest they delighted the crowd that had gathered to watch and listen. To see a video of the 2013 Cacklefest, click HERE.
This year’s Cacklefest will be held at the Longmont Museum which is located at 400 Quail Road -- the south end of Main street in Longmont. We are planning on six to nine cackle cars there to light up the sky and fill your ears with the sweet music of engines cackling. The entry fee is $5 for the general public. If you have registered for the Show-n-Shine, your entry fee was included in the registration fee. Can’t wait to see the flames? Make plans to join us!
