Seven Thirty comes early, but for many, that was the time people started lining up to get prime spots at Longmont’s Roosevelt Park for the official 41st annual Rod Fest. This year was one of the biggest and smallest ever!!

The Theme this year for the RodFest was the largest collection of peddle cars this side of the Mississippi. There were nearly 100 classic and antique peddle cars in all forms of restoration from Mint to “ Needs a little more love”.

Of course, if we wanted to do some racing between peddle cars and some of the larger counterparts, we did have some amazing custom built small engines displayed in both I4 and V8 configurations.

These gave the big cars a run for there money. Of course, read more here

Prez Sez…

I had the chance to travel to Barbados and visited the Barbados Car Museum.  The Barbados Car Museum is the private collection of Bill Mallalieu, Founder and current President of the Barbados Rally Car Club.

Founded in 1957 the Rally has attracted racers from all over the world. The cars in the museum are present for several reasons. They are either Rally cars or are extremely rare cars for one reason or another. When we visited Bill was currently working a Rolls Royce 1964 model I think. Waterpump had gone out and in the process of trying to replace the waterpump he had ended up taking off the heads and were having new guides installed.

Great cars with very interesting histories (see pictures here). Racers and limousines for dignitaries… Austins, Bentleys, Rolls, Volvos, Lanchester, Rover, Wolseley, Daimler just to name a few.

It was great to visit the Barbados Car Museum and talk to Bill M. who has raced since 1957 in Road Rallys.  Just a note: his favorite Rally car is a Ford powered Volvo because of speed and number of Rally wins. Who would of thought.

See you at the club house…
